I keep coming back to a tiny question: can loving-kindness be small enough to survive a shared office?
I mean, not a grand ceremony, just a few breaths where I wish my colleague, the person ahead of me, and maybe my future self well. It sounds simple, but in practice it can get awkward. If I say it too often, does it turn into a badge? If I say it too quietly, does it disappear?
I also wonder whether the words need to be formal at all. I have no temple background, and I have not found a group yet, so I am mostly learning from a library book and a cushion that is slightly too hard.
Does a short phrase need to be exact, or can it stay plain? And does it become less useful if it is not linked to the wider Buddhist path, the ethics, and the Buddha's teaching? I would love to hear how others keep it small, practical, and still meaningful.
