Hi all. I’ve been thinking about how a tiny refuge cue can stay a doorway in a small Sydney home. When I bow, I try to let it be a return to the Buddha, the Dharma and the Saṅgha, not a score for how I’m doing. Ngöndro practice can get very detailed, and I like that, but I’m curious how you keep devotion alive without turning it into performance.
For me, a short breath with bodhicitta — the wish to wake up for the sake of others — can soften the day. I wonder if a Lamrim map helps when it is read as a path of stages, not a ladder to climb. I’m especially interested in replies from voices that practise differently: minimal sit, walking, loving-kindness, or a more monastic rhythm.
How do you keep a small practice gentle, open and honest when the week is full?
