Can a plain refuge cue stay open in a busy day?
I’m still thinking about the little bow after sitting. It can feel like closing a door, or like handing the minute to the next one. In ngöndro, bowing is not a mark to earn; it is a way of keeping refuge to the Three Jewels open, and letting bodhicitta widen toward everyone.
If the bow is clumsy, I like to imagine it as a hinge: the body turns, the breath softens, and attention goes back to care. It does not have to be perfect. A plain pause, a breath, or a small inward nod can do the same work.
I’d love to hear how others use small cues without turning them into performance. What helps you keep practice small, kind, and moving through the day? Are there views that place less weight on ritual, and what draws you to that? I’m happy to learn from quieter, simpler, or more secular ways of staying with the teachings.
