Can a single breath hold the whole path?
In zazen, shikantaza, just sitting, the body settles and the mind stops polishing itself. No tally, no trophy. One breath returns to the refuge: the Buddha, the Dharma, the Sangha. The next breath does the same.
Sometimes practice seems like a small lamp in a large house. It does not need to light every corner at once. It only needs to stay lit.
I wonder how a plain sitting carries the whole path without becoming a performance. Does metta widen when the word fades? Can dependent arising stay a map without turning into a cage?
If you sit with the question, share what you notice. If you doubt the question, share that too. Both are useful.
