I’ve been sitting with a small question from the Nikāyas: when walking becomes a practice, does it stay a posture for sati, or does it start to ask for a result? The Buddha describes walking as something that can be done with clear awareness, and the step itself is enough to know what is happening (MN 10). In my reading, the chair after walking is just the next posture, not a penalty, and the pause before sitting is not a test.
I’m interested in how people hold this differently. For some, walking may feel like a doorway; for others, it may feel like a way to avoid sitting; for others, it may simply be a quiet change of position. I’d like to hear what keeps it small and useful, and what makes it begin to sound like proof, score, or teaching.
I’m not looking for a single answer. I’m looking for the shape of the discussion.
