Can a small sit stay plain without a score?
I’ve been trying to keep a home practice small: a few minutes with the breath, a pause before replying, a short walk without a destination. It works when I treat it as a reminder, not a result. The tricky part is that the mind wants to know whether it is “getting better.” If I can name that wish plainly, the sit stays ordinary. If I turn it into a test, it starts to feel like a report.
I don’t want a map that says this moment is the beginning of something else. I want a cue that keeps the next act more present and more kind. That seems close to the Buddha’s teaching on attention in the early texts, without needing a special claim.
What helps you keep practice plain? How do you notice a small shift without turning it into evidence, a badge, or a story?
