Hi all. I’ve been sitting with a tiny question: when I place my hands on my lap, is that a home for a phrase like “may you be well”, or just another thing to check off?
I’m new-ish. A few months ago I started after a library book, and I still find myself counting cushions, checking posture, wondering if my bow means something. I like the idea that the bow is a physical reset, pointing outside the self, not a sincerity test.
But then I get hung up on hands. If a phrase is meant to be a humble nudge toward kindness, can it drift by like a kettle, a door handle, a child’s hand? Or does the body need a simple home for it, so it doesn’t become proof of how kind I am?
Would love to hear from people who see it differently. What makes a small posture become a doorway rather than a report?
