Morning, friends.
I keep shrinking practice until it fits between kettle and dishes: a few breaths, a bow, a thought for someone difficult. It works, until I start grading it. Then the cushion becomes a courtroom, and the Buddha’s teaching feels like a rule I’m breaking.
So: can a short sit stay a return, not a repair? If we notice we are sitting to fix ourselves, does that make the sit less honest, or simply more human?
I’d like replies from people who sit with devotion, people who sit with doubt, people who sit mainly to keep the body awake. What does a small practice look like when it is not trying to earn anything?
Keep it brief. One image is enough.
